Expanding the network to increase the reach of petroleum products including LPG across the country has been an important business activity of IndianOil. IndianOil is continuously engaged in appointing new LPG distributors and providing LPG access as a domestic business process. Public sector oil companies are not empowered to directly allot any public LPG distribution on personal / non-personal basis, on any compassionate basis or otherwise. Oil marketing companies (OMCs), such as IndianOil, HPC and BPC, set up any LAPG distributors at the designated location based on feasibility studies conducted by the field team. If the space is viable and included in the marketing plan, an advertisement is jointly published in newspapers by the OMC inviting applications from eligible candidates for the appointment of LPG distributor. Interested eligible persons are required to submit the application and selection is made as per the existing guidelines for selection of LPG distributors. Interested persons, if eligible, may apply for selection of LPG distribution for one place in response to advertisement. The LPG distribution is allotted by the selection process through a draw between all the eligible applicants.
